I am Eugene Slason, a seasoned educator and administrator with over a decade of experience in higher education. My journey began with a passion for mathematics and an intrinsic desire to inspire and educate others. Over the years, I have transitioned from teaching mathematics to taking on leadership roles that involve significant educational initiatives and policy-making.

My career has been deeply rooted in both classrooms and conference rooms. I started as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Regis College, where I developed a profound understanding of the dynamics of higher education. During my tenure, I not only imparted knowledge but also engaged in curriculum development, designed innovative teaching strategies, and worked closely with faculty to improve instructional outcomes.

My role as the Quantitative Reasoning Coordinator allowed me to spearhead various initiatives aimed at enhancing quantitative literacy among students. I led workshops, coordinated faculty training sessions, and played a pivotal role in curriculum revisions, ensuring that quantitative skills were effectively integrated across disciplines.

Transitioning to administrative roles, I served as the Assistant Director of Faculty Assessment, where I was instrumental in developing and implementing assessment frameworks that improved educational quality and accountability. My work involved analyzing courses, training faculty, and collaborating with academic leaders to integrate assessment data into program planning.

Beyond my professional roles, I am a lifelong learner and a passionate advocate for education reform. I pursued a Doctorate in Education, focusing on motivation and engagement, which has informed my approach to leadership and teaching. I continue to explore new educational paradigms, integrating cutting-edge research with practical application to drive positive change in the education sector.

Personal Interests

Beyond my professional life, I have a deep-seated interest in both board games and video games, which not only serve as a source of relaxation but also inspire my professional interest in game-based learning and educational technology. I find that games offer a unique way to engage with strategic thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, skills that I bring into my educational practice, hence some of the gaming imagery on this site. I enjoy reading and exploring new teaching methods and technologies that can enhance student engagement and build community.

In addition to traditional board games, I am actively involved in tabletop role-playing games. These games foster a collaborative spirit and require creativity, improvisation, critical thinking, and storytelling skills—qualities that I value both in and out of the classroom. I often incorporate elements of these games into my teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning experiences.

My personal life is richly blessed with the love and laughter of my family, which includes my two wonderful daughters and our beloved dog. Spending quality time with them is a top priority for me, and we enjoy a variety of family activities that keep us connected and joyful. Whether it's a family game night, a weekend outing, or simply enjoying each other's company, these moments are a source of happiness and fulfillment.

Balancing my professional aspirations with my personal interests and family life is important to me, as it provides a well-rounded perspective and keeps me grounded. I believe that my passion for gaming, commitment to my family, and dedication to lifelong learning all contribute to my effectiveness as a leader in the field of education.
