Incoming Student Advising Dashboard
I created a dashboard for advising incoming students which integrated data from stakeholders across campus including Admissions, Athletics, and the Registrar. Automating multiple systems in process and helping ease the transitions of students to college and aide in retention.
Coalition Building
Collaborating with various stake holders such as students, math faculty, adjunct faculty, academic support specialists, tutors, and textbook publishers, I spearheaded changes to QR that helped lower the failing rate from about 45% before I arrived to 25% and then to 11% without changing student learning outcomes or lowering the expectations for the course.
Early Scholarship
I completed my doctoral degree in 2020, with a focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning. The project focused on the benefits of gamification and game-based learning on student engagement and motivation. I have had the opportunity to present on these topics and how to design courses for active student engagement and learning. Building on this research I have continued my scholarship with examinations on other topics related to engagement such as student retention.

Testimonials
Spring 2017 Early Childhood/Elementary School Mathematics: Instruction
"I really enjoyed the class and how it was taught. The connections that were made to real life really helped to connect the lessons in class to real life."
Fall 2018 Quantitative Reasoning
"I believe that every subject taught in this course was very useful in the real world. Professor Slason did a fantastic job teaching us the material and he made this course less scary than everyone thought it was going to be."
Spring 2019 Quantitative Reasoning
"Professor Slason is a great professor and he has been very understanding of my struggles and needs to succeed in this course."
Spring 2021 Intermediate Analysis
"I think when it comes to this course the student teacher interaction is the strength because, everything is difficult at that level of math so there needs to be constant interaction between both party so that the material can be understood."
Spring 2021 Math: Methods in Madness
"At first I wasn’t happy about the class, but with time I am so proud of it since I am now well conversant with all of things I didn’t know. Strongly recommend the professor."
